CPSM Certification

The CPSM certification program from SMPS offers a valuable opportunity for A/E/C marketers and business developers to enhance their professional standing with employers, peers, and the public. By earning this credential, professionals gain increased confidence and knowledge in strategic marketing and business development practices, leading to greater professional success for themselves and their companies.

As a CPSM, you'll demonstrate that you have met a rigorous standard of experience and expertise in marketing professional services. This can translate into career advancement and increased compensation and benefits for some, while others will benefit from the enhanced opportunities for professional success that come with this personal investment.

Investing in your professional development through the CPSM program can pay dividends in both the short and long term, helping you to achieve your goals and stand out in a competitive industry.

More About the Test

The CPSM test is designed to evaluate A/E/C professionals' competency in six domains of practice for professional services marketing. These domains are:

  • Domain 1: Marketing Research
  • Domain 2: Marketing Planning
  • Domain 3: Client and Business Development
  • Domain 4: Proposals
  • Domain 5: Promotional Activity
  • Domain 6: Management

SMPS has analyzed these domains with the Professional Testing Corporation to confirm the critical knowledge areas and skill sets needed for competency. The MARKENDIUM, also known as the SMPS Body of Knowledge, is the comprehensive educational resource for the successful practice of marketing and business development in the A/E/C industry, and further defines these domains of practice. The SMPS Alaska Chapter has a copy of the MARKENDIUM available for loan.
